Special Needs

Network for Parents of Children with Special Needs

A network for Parents of Children with Special Needs was initially set up by the South Tipperary County Childcare Committee in 2008, after many parents enquired about establishing a support group. Through these networks, parents got to know each other by attending information sessions, training and coffee mornings. It was felt at the time that the success of these programmes needed to be built upon and the group started meeting more regularly, exploring new ideas and identifying potential training needs in areas such as Speech & Language, First Aid and Health. It was also crucially important for the group that relationships were built between the various service providers and S.P.E.A.K. (Special, Parents, Empower, Amazing, Parents) to help create collaborative strategies for improving services and opportunities for our children.
