Reference Books for Childcare Courses
South Tipperary libraries in collaboration with the County Childcare office, are currently adding to the reference material available to students of FETAC & HETAC Childcare courses in the county. These books will be available shortly through your local library. When in your local library, ask the librarian where the childcare section is and if the information you are seeking isn’t there, you may ask the librarian if she/he can make it available. You may also contact the County Childcare office on 052 6182274, for assistance.

Parent & Toddler Groups
The Dept of Children and Youth Affairs has announced that there will be Parent & Toddler Funding in 2012. We are now inviting applications from new or existing groups. Please follow the link to all relevant documents, including the 2012 application form -
P & T Group Grants 2012 Application Form You may download and complete the form with a black pen, sign it and post it back to the County Childcare office or you can download it, type in the information, sign it and post it back to the County Childcare office. Alternatively, when you have completed the form and signed it, you are welcome to drop it in to us here at Hughes Mill, Suir Island.
The closing date for completed application forms is Friday March 2nd.

Parents interested in the ‘Free Pre-school Year’
If your child was born between February 2nd 2008 and June 30th 2009, the child will be eligible for the Free Pre-school Year (ECCE) in Sept 2012. Please click on the following link for further information.

Disruption due to Flood Relief Works
We are open and it’s pretty much business as usual. However, if you have a need to visit our office, please ring first to determine the current state of access and egress. Also you can consult our interactive map for alternative routes into and out of Suir Island. The disruption is expected to happen at intervals over the next 18 – 24 months. Currently the bridge on the town side has reopened but the bridges on the ‘Old Bridge’\Raheen Road area are closed.
Childcare Employment and Training Support (CETS) scheme
This is a childcare support scheme where childcare places will be reserved for qualifying parents who are attending a FÁS training course or an educational programme administered by a Vocational Educational Committee (VEC). Qualification for the scheme will be determined by FÁS and the VECs. Please click on the following link for more information.
